Stronger Together: workshop in preparation for World Refugee Day
On 20 June at 11 a.m., on the occasion of World Refugee Day, we will mark this day in Brussels with a joint action in front of the Petit Château. We will gather to form a human chain — a powerful and visible gesture affirming that everyone deserves dignity, everyone deserves a place. Sabine, the giant of dignity, will be present.
In the afternoon, after the action, you are all invited to a community festival in front of House of Compassion.
For this action, we need to prepare a little.
First of all, it is important to invite widely: one person, two people, five people, your family… We need 600 people to form the full chain. Thank you for registering so that we can estimate the number of participants and prepare properly. Many thanks in advance. https://www.houseofcompassion.be/inschrijving/ If you have any issues with the online form, you can also register by sending an email to coord@houseofcompassion.be
You are invited to prepare Sabine’s sign and the chains during a workshop at House of Compassion on Sunday 7 June between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. (and if needed also on Saturday 13 June between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.). Gil and I will be there to welcome you. If you would like to take part in the workshop, please bring newspaper articles related to the topic, as well as positive stories about migration. One chain will be made using all the articles, and a second, colourful chain will be created with Zinneke ribbons, positive stories, testimonies, and postcards of Sabine, our giant, on which groups who visited House of Compassion have written messages.
Below you will find a few lines to introduce the action.
