After Parliament, Acting at the Council: A New Cycle of Citizen Advocacy

The “return” regulation for people in an irregular stay is even stricter than the European Commission’s initial proposal. On 26 March 2026, the right wing of the EPP struck a deal with the far right. None of the amendment proposals put forward by the left, nor by part of the liberals and centrists, were taken into account.

Meeting with Misachi Ogawa (Policy adviser on asylum, migration and border management to S&D MEP Birgit Sippel. He accompanied the negotiations on the Migration and Asylum Pact.)

A new cycle of citizen advocacy is now beginning. After the Parliament, it is at the level of the Council that action is now needed.
