EVACUATION NOW

House of Compassion will welcome politicians, associations, experts, families and supporters to the Beguinage Church on Sunday, October 4 at 3:00 p.m. Together they will discuss the following question: What does the evacuation of Palestinians in Gaza who hold a visa for Belgium mean in practice? Family reunification is a fundamental human right and a children’s right.

Programme

3 p.m.:             Testimonies  Odey Abed (Engineer, CEO of The Light Group BV), spokesperson for the hunger strikers.
Ahmed Alderra (Master in Physical Education, Director of a
Sports School in Gaza), spokesperson for the Palestinian
families (PalFam).
Dr Mohammed Ayesh, who worked for many years as an
orthopedic surgeon and trauma specialist in Gaza.

3:20 – 3:30 p.m.: Literary Interlude – Ziad Musabeh

3:30 – 4:50 p.m.: Evacuation Now… what concrete actions are needed?
Politicians, representatives of associations and families will engage
in discussion on practical steps and solutions.

Fenya Fischler – representative of A Different Jewish Voice, Shabbes
24/7, and the Anti-Zionist Jewish Alliance in Belgium.
Johan Depoortere – former VRT journalist and Palestine expert.
Jasmin Tabakovic – PhD in Anthropology, specialized in genocidal
violence and divisive practices (and himself a survivor of the genocide
in Bosnia).
Michel Staszewski – representative of the UPJB (Union of Progressive
Jews of Belgium).
Ilyas Mouani (Vooruit) – member of the Brussels Parlement
Petya Obolensky (PTB) – member of the Brussels Parlement
Khalid Zian (PS) – alderman of public works, international solidarity and religions.

5:00 p.m.: Human Chain Around the Church


This action is organized in solidarity with all Palestinian families holding a Belgian visa who remain trapped in Gaza, as well as with those currently on hunger strike. We call on all Belgian citizens and political decision-makers to defend the right to family reunification, children’s rights and human rights: the right to live safely with one’s family.
