🌿 “Action and Contemplation” Weekend
January 9 & 10, 2026
Retreat – Reflection – Commitment
House of Compassion warmly invites you to a weekend of retreat and reflection on the theme “Action and Contemplation”, on Friday evening, January 9, and Saturday, January 10, 2026, during the day in Brussels.
This weekend is meant to be a space where commitment and inner life nourish one another, through testimonies, conversations, and moments of renewal.
📍 A meaningful place
We will be welcomed at Rock-in-Squat, Avenue de Tervueren 158, 1150 Woluwe-Saint-Pierre — a self-managed socio‑political occupation where around 50 people, with and without papers, and 30 children live and struggle together for their rights.
🎤 Speakers
Three women will share their experience, spirituality, and commitment:
- Nikki Apeldoorn, from the Catholic Workers movement in Amsterdam, inspired by the spirituality of Dorothy Day
- Natacha Mugisi Tchitembo, founder and coordinator of the collective L’écho de la voix, of the occupation La Grâce divine, and of the Comité des femmes sans papiers
- A representative of the French movement Lutte et Contemplation, who will also share their experience and spirituality
Each speaker will express herself in her own language. Simultaneous French–Dutch translation will be provided.
To close the weekend: a performance by the Choir of the Comité des femmes sans papiers !!!
This weekend is an invitation to gather, listen, share, and encourage one another in our commitments toward greater justice and compassion.
We would be very happy to welcome you.
Registration is required so that we can provide you with more detailed information about the programme and prepare the meals for Friday evening and Saturday lunchtime, which will be offered to you: 👉 https://www.houseofcompassion.be/inscription/
